Shotton Group Certified to EN-15085 – Achieving the highest of quality and investing in the future
It is with immense pride that we announce that as of March 2021, The Shotton Group has achieved the prestigious International Standard EN 15085-2 CL1, Rail Applications Certificate for the Welding of Railway Vehicles and Components (CWRVC).
The Shotton Group has spent its duration striving to provide our clients with the highest quality standard of product. Over 43 years’ we have had to re-evaluate the definition of quality. In aligning with this vision, we are proud to announce the latest quality certification to EN 15085-2.
To safeguard the standards of rail manufacturing and the construction of components, EN 15085 is the standard required by rail vehicle manufacturers. It emphasises the highest of measures to protect the reliability and virtue of rail stock. It ensures that all contractors within the sector are working to the highest standards and demonstrate excellence and competency in the control of welding performance.
This achievement champions The Shotton Group as a preeminent producer of sheet metal components produced to exacting quality standards.
This accreditation sets standards for each of the quality systems and welding process approvals, including the welders and welding operators. The welding team at Shotton Manufacturing comprises many decades of experience across diverse fields and applications. This experience and professionalism have enabled us to achieve this certification.
Welding supervisors oversee the welding quality and ensure it remains the highest standard. The Shotton Group employs, both a full-time Welding Quality Engineer (IWE) and Welding Supervisor (IWS), performing the training, inspection and testing requirements of our welding and welder qualifications of AS/NZS ISO 3834-2 and EN 15085-2 CL1.
The EN 15085-2 standard contains four certification levels, and not resting on our laurels; we have achieved the highest classification; CL 1. Class 1 (CL 1) signifies our ability to ensure consistent and high-quality welding operations in the rail vehicle and parts manufacture. It also defines our reputation for quality systems that denote these standards of construction.
The Shotton Group is one of the very few Australian companies to achieve this accolade, positioning us at the forefront to support the re-capitalisation programme of rejuvenating the rolling stock of Victoria and Australia. It confirms our commitment to and expertise as an elite provider of fabricated sheet metal product.
